Community Projects

We are always glad to support our community in various ways. Here are some of the things we have got involved with in our short life so far…

During 2022 and 2023 some of our leadership team got involved in organising street parties to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and then the Coronation of King Charles III in Turner Road. Almost every. household got involved and CHCC paid for all the wonderful meat which was obtained from a local butcher. In between those two celebrations, on the solemn occasion of her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s death, several households in Turner Road also united to observe a time of silence and to pray together.

Playground weeding at Chilton Fields

A couple of years ago we volunteered to help Public Realm department at Mid Suffolk District Council to tidy up the playground near the Rugby Club on Chilton Fields, just to extend its life until new investment in infrastructure can be made. It had received complaints on social media and we knew that we could help improve things. We held work parties to tidy up the weeds and then the council also replaced the surrounding fencing and the bark chippings.

Litter Picking at Stow Fiesta…

We are always willing to to assist Stowmarket Town Council by helping clear up the litter at the end of both days of StowFiesta on Chilton Fields. We usually get a call early in the new year to ask if we are available and our ‘picking’ team gets bigger each year so many hands make light work. We like to introduce a bit of fun to proceedings by holding a ‘most unusual find’ competition.

Painting play equipment at Chilton Fields Playground…

Following on from our earlier efforts we were also encouraged to be able to assist Mid Suffolk District Council by painting the swings and slide at the playing field during the Autumn. Although we did have one session rained off we were able to complete the painting before the clocks changed and the temperature dropped.
